French had to help the Migrants in the Dinghy who were going to Portsmouth to cross the Channel
Rescue teams admitted they were blind-sided as the smugglers used an “isolated, rocky spot” in the Cherbourg region.
The boat was in “serious difficulty” within “an hour”, officials said.
This led to five French rescue vessels and two helicopters helping the 140 asylum seekers on the nearly 70-mile journey.
A source said: “We asked them who wanted to be rescued, and the answer was no one.
“There were 20 women and eight children among them, and they clearly caused the most concern.
“Only a few migrants were wearing life jackets, so we handed out jackets to all of them. It seemed incomprehensible that they were risking their lives without life jackets.
“A second outboard motor was made to work, so the boat could continue on its voyage to Britain.”
So this means that they were in French Waters and should have been taken back to France. by the Rescue vessels and the two helicopters not helped by them to get to the UK, a distance about 70 miles. so what is the UK really paying the French Government for as they seem to be helping Migrants in their Dinghy's to cross from various parts of the French Coast.
We should cancel the agreement with France and get the Billions paid to them back and use it instead to buy some Naval Vessels and boats to stop the Illegal Migrants from Crossing into UK Waters and turn them back to France. As the French ARMED Police are not stopping the Migrants they seem to be helping ALL Migrants who want to cross to the UK.
Maybe the UK Government should listen to the Citizens of Portsmouth and the rest of the UK and change the Laws that help the Illegal Migrants to come to the UK to claim Asylum so that they can just process and return all Illegal Migrants back to France within 48 hours. As France are not doing what they were paid to do-Which is to stop Migrants from coming to the UK.

A Home Office whistleblower claims only one in 100 Asylum claims are real as many migrants allegedly use 'the same script'.
The former Home Office insider worked for years assessing thousands of claims and said the entire process has turned into a 'massive fraud'.

He revealed many Pakistanis claimed they could not return home due to being in a relationship with the same man, who would provide letters backing their claims.
He explained that 'hundreds' of Iraqi Kurds were petitioning to stay in the UK - because they were all in a relationship with the same daughter of the Kurdish prime minister.
He also said that large numbers of Bangladeshi asylum seekers claimed they were political dissidents, but lacked substantive knowledge about their party.
The whistleblower said. "There's almost no aspect of the asylum system that isn't either a massive fraud or just really dysfunctional."
He continued that the initial screening claimants undergo is very brief, with a more substantial interview by officials months later.
He said: "This gives them time to prepare, time to get advice, time to see exactly what fake evidence they can get before committing to a story at full interview."
He added that the process to accept a claim was a lot more straight forward than rejecting an application, which could take hours.
If denying an application, officials would be expected to respond to each claim made by the applicant.
He also said he thought some claims included fake police and court documents but due to confidentiality rules officials could not contact origin countries.
According to the government, 39 per cent of all claims come from individuals who entered the UK on a work, study or visitor visa and overstayed.
A Home Office study from 2024 shows that Pakistan accounted for the largest number of claimants stating to be gay or bisexual.

Claims Are REAL??
That raises the question of the 209,748 Migrant Asylum claims to date. (September 2026).
This would mean Only 2,087 are genuine asylum claimants out of the Illegal Migrants in Boats, who have crossed to the UK From France in the Current Week Ending Date of 6th September 2026. There are many more who come to the UK by other means and then claim Asylum.
So maybe we should deport all the Asylum Claimants who are NOT Real Claimants.
Which means that figure is probably around 3/4 of all those who have claimed Asylum or those in the process of claiming Asylum.
As many are fighting age Men coming across as Economic Migrants?? How many would stay in Britain if they had to sign a legal document to fight for this Country.
With the possibility of been tagged so they could be called up.
Illegal Migrants are also coming across again Inside Lorries which looks like another way they are getting into Britain along with other methods of entry. So it doesn't look like the Illegal Migrant situation is improving like the Labour Government wants us to believe as the Migrants are just diversifying and using different methods. Maybe it would be cheaper to get back the Billions we have given to France as it doesn't look like they are stopping the Illegal Migrants from getting to the UK.

No. There is an important distinction between illegal/irregular entry, being an asylum seeker, and being recognised as a refugee.
In the small-boat example
If someone crosses the English Channel without permission:
They have entered the UK irregularly/without permission.
UK immigration law generally requires a non-British citizen to have permission to enter the UK. Entry without leave constitutes illegal entry.
If Border Force intercepts them and brings them to a UK port, that does not automatically make them refugees.
Border Force bringing someone ashore is an enforcement/rescue/processing action. It does not grant refugee status.
They can then claim asylum.
An asylum claim is a request for the UK to recognise the person as a refugee. The person is therefore an asylum seeker/asylum applicant while the claim is being considered.
Only if the asylum claim succeeds do they become recognised as a refugee.
The Home Office assesses whether they meet the Refugee Convention definition. If successful, they receive refugee status; if unsuccessful, they remain without that protection and may ultimately be required to leave the UK.
The key points
It is therefore not:
Boat arrives → Border Force picks them up → they become refugees.
It is:
Boat arrives → irregular/unauthorised entry → Border Force intercepts/processes them → they may claim asylum → Home Office considers claim → if successful, refugee status is granted.
And importantly, being intercepted by Border Force does not change how the person entered the UK. The Home Office's statistics themselves distinguish asylum seekers according to how they entered, including people who arrived by small boat through an illegal entry route.
In the year ending June 2026, for example, 33,949 asylum seekers had arrived by small boat.
There is also an important complication: someone can have entered illegally and still subsequently qualify as a refugee. Illegal entry and refugee status are two different legal questions. UK rules specifically contemplate people who entered illegally but subsequently qualify for refugee protection.

So your underlying point is partly right: someone arriving by small boat without permission has not entered the UK legally simply because Border Force subsequently intercepts and brings them into a port.
But it is incorrect to say that Border Force then classes them as refugees. They are normally asylum seekers if they make an asylum claim, and only become refugees if that claim is accepted.

Illegal Boat Crossings
Although the number crossing the Channel this year has fallen by more than 40% compared with the same period last year, the increasing use of larger vessels demonstrates how quickly people smugglers have adapted to stronger enforcement by French police on beaches in Northern France.
But we will see if the stronger enforcement by French police on beaches in Northern France, continues or just peters out , and the French Police get complacent again.
They need to be on top of the People Smuggling Gangs operating in France, and work together with the UK on this.
The French Police should also find and destroy all Boats & Engines on a regular basis like Raise The Colours did.
So that their will be no boats available to come to the UK which will also mean their will be no drownings of the Illegal Migrants. It will also mean that the French Citizen's will also feel safer, they should seriously look at securing their borders like the Polish Government achieved and has patrols on to stop anyone coming across, but the French would need to look at sinking a barrier underneath the Fence so the Illegal Migrants can't come under the Fence via Tunnels the Illegal Migrant have dug.
But, as the Migrants will be using other ways such as getting into the Lorries by climbing onto the top and opening it up and hiding in or underneath the Lorries.
Or overstaying their Visa's.
The UK Government will have to put laws in place to stop them from coming across via Lorries or Overstaying in the UK, and start putting them into detention centres and deport them within 24 hours.
A Mega Dinghy carrying a record 230 people arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel in the early hours of Monday the 9th of August 2026
It is the clearest indication yet that people smugglers in Northern France are adapting their business model and escalating their so-called Taxi Boat strategy to evade enforcement by UK and French authorities.
The development is likely to be a blow to the Prime Minister and Home Secretary.
Andy Burnham has vowed to be “relentless” and “bring back control”, while Shabana Mahmood has said the government is “bearing down” on small boat crossings.
French authorities told the Guardian that before an incident last week, in which a mega-dinghy carrying 173 people capsized after its engine caught fire, there had been nine mega-dinghy crossings of the Channel so far this year.
Invasion of Spain by Moroccan Migrants
In late July 2026, an estimated 60,000 people, predominantly young men, crossed the border from Morocco into the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta in North Africa, with smaller numbers attempting to cross to another Spanish autonomous city, Melilla, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) away along the Mediterranean coastline. This overwhelmed local reception facilities and prompted the government of Ceuta to request that the Spanish government declare a national emergency.
Most entered by swimming around the Tarajal and Benzú breakwaters or by crossing on foot along the shoreline.
By 31 July, Spanish officials said about 50,000 people had voluntarily returned to Morocco. By 2 August, at least 72 people were reported to have died as a result of the incident.
And with the prospect of Migrants trying to copy what the Moroccan's did in Spain over the Weekend.
If the Spain had not increased their Police presence and also their Army to sort out what could have escalated into a major problem and if they had given them food and water and put them into Hotels like the British Governments have done with Migrants who have come to the UK. We would have had thousands more coming to the UK.
The Spanish removed the Pull Factor and didn't give the Illegal Migrants free Food, water and a place to stay (for free at the expense of the British Tax Payer like the British Government does.
Spain proved that by not giving them anything and the Police and the Army patrolling the Streets.... that the invasion of Migrants who came into Spain went back to Morocco
60,000 Migrants came over the Border and by Sea into Spain and more than 48,000 Migrants returned to Morocco and left of their own accord when they were given Nothing and at least 72 have died after trying to get into Spain via the Border and by Sea.
It is time the British Government got tough with Illegal Migrants and stopped giving them Asylum and gave them nothing like the Spanish did when they broke into Spain In late July 2026
The British government should just get tough and get the Border Force to process the illegal Migrants in 48 hours taking digital photo's and fingerprints and DNA swabs. So they can't sneak back over in the future. We should send them all back to France as the French Police are not stopping the Illegal Migrants as they have been seen just watching them set off for the UK from the Beach while they are looking at their phones and smoking.
These are Police who have Guns on them and could make the Boats unseaworthy so they can't cross.
The British Government should demand the French Government return the Money we have given to them recently as they are not doing anything proactive to stop the Illegal Migrants.

The British Government needs to change the Laws that stop the Government from Deporting Illegal Migrants.
Then they need to remove every Illegal Migrant that has come across to the UK since the 1st of January 2026. Including the Migrants who are now in British Prisons, we also need to bring back Hanging for those that commit Murder, all Rape attacks (including Children) and Stabbings by Illegal Migrants if their Countries of Origin refuse to take them back.
We also need to stop providing Aid to other Countries and spend the Money on re-Building Britain.

How many people cross the Channel
in small boats?
People were first detected crossing the Channel on small boats at a significant scale in 2018, when 299 people were recorded arriving in the UK in this manner. Numbers rose sharply, reaching a peak of around 46,000 in 2022. Arrivals then fell in 2023, before rising again to around 41,000 in 2025.
The charts below show the annual and monthly numbers of people arriving on small boats. Between 2018 and the year ending March 2026, a total of 197,000 people were detected.
In the 2020s, crossing the English Channel in a small boat has become a popular method of unauthorised immigration into the UK. Almost all of those who arrive by this route go on to claim asylum.
39,000 people arrived by small boat in the year ending March 2026, making up around 90% of all people detected arriving in the UK without authorisation. Around 75% of those arriving were adult men, 12% were adult women and 13% were children.
The nationalities of those entering the UK by this route have changed over time, and the number of nationalities recorded has increased.
Returns of people who arrived on small boats
Around 8,400 people who arrived on small boats were returned from the UK to another country between 2018 and the year ending March 2026. This represents 4% of the total number of small boat arrivals during this period.
It is not possible to tell from published data how many of these returns were government-enforced and how many were undertaken voluntarily. However, across the returns system as a whole, the majority of returns are voluntary.
Home Office statistics indicate that, since around mid-2022, most returns of people who arrived by small boat have involved Albanian nationals. In the year ending March 2026, 53% of small boat returns were of Albanian nationals, followed by Turkish and Iraqi nationals who collectively accounted for a further 15%.
However, the number of Albanian small boat arrivals being returned has declined from its peak in 2023, reflecting a fall in the number of arrivals from this group.
In commentary published alongside the statistical release, the Home Office notes that returns to Afghanistan and Sudan, which were the second and third most common nationalities among small boat arrivals in the year ending March 2026, are currently on hold. It also states that Iran, the fourth most common nationality in that period, and Syria are not currently accepting enforced returns.

Didn't the British Government pay the French to do that out of the taxes paid by hardworking British Citizens who are now also supporting all the Illegal Migrants who have come across to Britain since the year 2018, who are now claiming benefits and adding to the growing Benefits Bill!
If there weren't any more Illegal Migrants coming to Britain, then the British People would feel a lot safer going about their Daily Lives.
If the following were true, and it wasn't just a one-off due to bad weather, and the government had removed us from old, archaic laws that were made many decades ago and are no longer fit for purpose in the current time and situation. And removed every Migrant who had come to Britain illegally, then the British People wouldn't be so angry because they are fearful of what could happen to their families, as the illegal migrants are in this country free to roam wherever they want to at any time.
If instead of putting them up at the expense of the British Taxpayer in 4 and 5-star hotels with meals provided and free healthcare and days out.... they were turned back whilst at sea or put in a detention centre, and processed to prove they had tried to enter the UK illegally then deported within 48 hours then we wouldn't be in the situation we are in at the moment with a Government not looking after its legal citizens and making them feel like second class citizens, in their own country and letting more illegal migrants into the country thus increasing our debt and the interest on the UK Debt see web-link below at #UK Debt Clock at the end of this blog. as the costs incurred to date looking after the Illegal migrants who have come to Britain by boat or sometimes stowing away in trucks will have cost the UK Billions
The Population Of The UK
Under the Labour Government, 60,196 Migrants in 1,026 Boats have crossed from France in the period from 4th July 2024 to 3rd November 2025 inclusive ( 673 days =16 months).
Over 5 years, that could equate to 225,735 Migrants coming to the UK in 3,847 boats from 4th July 2024 to 3rd July 2029, under the Labour Government.
Add the 127,896 Migrants in 3,866 Boats who have already come to this Country before 4th July 2024, from 01.01.2018 under the Conservative Government.
There would be a total of 353,631 Migrants who came to the UK in 7,713 Boats who will be living in the UK, in addition to the Legal British Citizens who were here before the Illegal Migrants started to come to Britain before 1st January 2018.
Official population figures are typically provided as mid-year estimates by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), so a precise figure for January 1, 2018, is not available. However, the mid-2017 figures serve as the closest official data point before that date.
The breakdown for the constituent countries in mid-2017 was:

= to 66.0 Million in 2017 in the UK.
As of today, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the estimated population of the United Kingdom (Britain) is approximately (sixty-nine million seven hundred thousand) in figures this is 69.7 million people.
And another 165,539 migrants in 44 months could come to the UK, and the Population of the UK could be = sixty-nine million eight hundred sixty-five thousand five hundred thirty-nine, in figures this is 69,865,539 who may have come across to the UK by 3rd July 2029

Our British Border Force should be protecting the UK & its Citizens' from the Illegal Migrant Invasion & turning all the boats back so they can't cross into British waters at the ("median line" or the "delimitation line). Our territorial Sea Waters from the Median Line to our British Beaches.)
The dividing line between French and British waters
If Border Force turned the Illegal Migrants back, they would do the same distance from France to the British maritime boundary, and back to France (if Border Force turned them back), as they would have if they had continued to cross into our waters to the Port of Dover or our Beaches.
The French would have to take them back as they would still be in their territorial waters, and they should then close and Police their Borders like the Polish do.
And we should send back any Migrants that have come to Britain from 01.01.2018 back across to France as well, as the Migrants have crossed through many Safe Countries before they even get to France.
If Illegal Migrants come across on boats supplied by the people smugglers or hide in a lorry and they do not come across legally and they will have disposed of their I.D whilst crossing the Channel between France & the UK, so they can't be identified and will then come onto British land without a passport or permission to come into Britain.
They should be processed in a locked holding facility as they could be living here under false details, and they could have made up their name etc.
This should apply even if they have been given Asylum, as many were fast tracked to reduce the backlog, which we wouldn't have had if we had returned them citing that they were coming across on mass in boats (sometimes over-full). This was also an unsustainable migration and was threatening our economy due to the rising costs of keeping them.
We don't owe the French Government any loyalty or money (they should pay the money back) as they lied to us, as they knew there was a law already in place which wouldn't allow them to touch the Migrants when they had told the British Government in power at the time that they could stop the Migrants. They could have changed the law that would enable them to stop the Migrants and then deport them from France. And they continued to tell us they could stop the Migrants from getting to the UK. I have also heard that the French won't even go into the water and stop them from getting into the boats or try to stop them using their Border Force, instead of letting them near the beaches , they should take them all to their Border in coaches and make them go over the border and back to their Country of Origin.
We would then not have unsustainable Migration coming into Britain, with the ensuing rising costs to our economy due to the Billions spent on housing the Migrants and all the other related costs that were spent over the years, and the escalating problems of the illegal migrants being in Britain, as we would not have the recurring costs of housing and feeding the migrants or the rise in crimes such as knife crime, rape and sexual assaults, theft from our shops and more... since they started to come across from France illegally in boats, or the massive debt we now have.
If UK Border Force turned them back, if they still managed to get onto boats the UK Government wouldn't have so much paperwork to process. And there wouldn't be a huge backlog for Asylum Cases if illegal migrants were turned away whilst at Sea.
Also, British Citizens are saying that the Border Force should lobby the Government to change the laws so that it would be easier to turn Illegal Migrants back to France, because the French Police are not stopping the Migrants at this moment in time the Migrant and Boats The Current Totals From 01.01.2026 to 25.10.2026 inc. are... Migrants= 19,135 Boats= 281
After all, if the French Police had stopped all the boats on their shores and destroyed the boats, the People Smugglers wouldn't have been able to use them to get the migrants to the UK. We wouldn't now have this problem of Unsustainable Migration, and our Debt would not have gone into the Billions and then Trillions and rising fast + interest.
If any migrants manage to leave France in a boat supplied by the people smugglers, they should be destroyed, and the migrants arrested and deported within 48 hours back to France. We shouldn't have to return the boats to France; if the migrants do manage to get to the UK, they should just be destroyed.
British people are starting to comment on why we have a closed border for the Legal British Citizens to come through at Customs, and let the illegal migrants come in illegally without Passports.
As none of the illegal migrants should be in this country, as they have broken British laws by crossing the Channel between France and Britain by coming across in boats supplied by criminals and coming onto British land without a passport or permission to come into Britain the legal way.
Questions & Answers:
Q: Why should the British Public have to live in fear of being stabbed or raped... just by going about their everyday lives day or night.
A: Forget about reducing backlog, deport all illegal migrants who have crossed into Britain, even if they have been fast-tracked through the Asylum process, as they shouldn't be in Britain as they didn't come here through the legal channels. Many are here to earn money, economic Migrants possibly illegally through the Black Market, where they won't have to pay any tax, and are not true refugees
Q: What are the 5 reasons you can claim asylum?
A: Refugee or asylum status may be granted to aliens who have been persecuted or have a well-founded fear of future persecution on account of their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, and/or political opinion.
Q: They are also saying that they think the French Government are not stopping the Migrants because they are taking Billions from the British Government but not actually stopping any of the Migrants from coming across to Britain.
A: So the British Government should demand the money they have given the French Government back in full and only pay towards the costs of Policing their borders (in arrears), to stop the Migrants, if no Migrants come to Britain via France, as that would hopefully stop the Migrants from coming to Britain.
Q: Does Border Force have the right to turn back at sea any illegal immigrants crossing in boats?
A: The UK Border Force's right to turn back boats of illegal immigrants at sea is a highly contested issue with significant legal and safety constraints
. While the government has asserted that "pushback" tactics are legal in limited and specific circumstances, their use is heavily restricted by international and domestic law, particularly the paramount duty to protect life at sea.
French Cooperation: The French government has strongly opposed the UK's pushback policy, arguing that it breaches maritime law. For a pushback operation to be feasible, the French authorities would need to be willing to intercept and rescue the migrants once they are turned back into French waters, which they have generally refused to do.
Nationality and Borders Act: The Nationality and Borders Act 2022 gave Border Force officials powers to stop, board, divert, and detain vessels, including potentially in international or foreign waters (subject to agreement with other states). It also included provisions to grant immunity from criminal or civil liability to officials using these powers in "good faith," but legal experts and human rights bodies have raised concerns that this might be incompatible with human rights obligations and the duty to investigate deaths.
We should not have to accept Illegal Migrants who come across from France into the UK as we are not part of the EU any more and going back into the EU would be total suicide economically. We should be allowed to turn them back to France or be able to pick them up and take back via our Border Force to French Ports or using Military Planes.
French Police/Army should then push them back over their Borders. They should also look at improving their Border Security.

This maritime boundary, which runs through the English Channel (or La Manche in French) and the North Sea, was established through a series of international arbitrations and bilateral agreements between the two countries, notably the 1977 Continental Shelf Arbitration and subsequent agreements in the 1980s and 1990s.
Key aspects:
Territorial Waters: Both the UK and France claim a territorial sea of up to 12 nautical miles from their coasts. In the narrowest part of the Channel, the Strait of Dover (about 21 miles wide), these territorial waters meet, and the boundary is a negotiated line.
Continental Shelf and EEZ: For areas beyond the territorial sea, the boundary for the continental shelf and exclusive economic zones (EEZ) is determined by an agreed-upon simplified equidistance line, or a median line where every point is equidistant from the nearest points on the baselines of both countries.
Channel Islands: The presence of the British Channel Islands close to the French coast complicated the delimitation, and a special arrangement (giving them "half-effect" or semi-enclaving them) was decided by a Court of Arbitration to achieve an equitable solution.
Channel Tunnel: Within the Channel Tunnel itself, the border is a fixed land frontier located halfway along the tunnel, as defined by the 1986 Treaty of Canterbury.
Maybe the real answer is to come out of the ECHR and the Human Rights Laws as the British Citizens are saying what about the rights of those who are stabbed sometimes fatally or raped, including children by illegal migrants as we don't know who they really are, as they have disposed of any identification that could identify them, and they may already have criminal records in their Country of origin, and illegal migrants think they can do the same as they can in their Country.
Don't give unauthorised migrants legal status in Britain, or it may increase illegal immigration in the future. They should also not be regularised even if they have lived continuously in the UK for a very long period, despite not having legal permission to do so.
There are four main ways for a person to become an unauthorised migrant in the UK: enter regularly on a visa and overstay, enter without authorisation, remain after asylum application avenues are exhausted, or be born in the UK to irregular migrant parents.
Illegal Migrants should have no right to stay in Britain unless they apply from their own country legally and are accepted. They have a job and a place to stay, funded by the Legal Migrant, not by the money the government collected from taxes paid by British citizens.
The News on the Huntingdon train stabbings...
This has made many British citizens feel anxious and question why we are still allowing Illegal migrants to come into Britain and not deporting all illegal migrants.
Passengers travelling from Doncaster to London were attacked in a mass stabbing on a train on Saturday night.
A “brave” train worker remained in a life-threatening condition after attempting to stop the knife man, while the driver was praised for diverting the service into an emergency stop at Huntingdon station
Eleven people received treatment in the hospital following the attack.
Two British men in their 30s were initially arrested, and police said there was "nothing to suggest" it was a terror incident.
Anthony Williams, 32, from Peterborough, was charged on Monday with 10 counts of attempted murder.
The other man arrested has been released with no further action.
Witnesses reported that police used a Taser on one man who was holding a knife.
Cambridgeshire police are reviewing three further incidents, including the stabbing of a 14-year-old in Peterborough, to establish whether there is a connection between them and the Huntingdon train attack.
Stopping Illegal Migrants and deporting them ALL who have come across since the beginning of 2018 would save millions, and the debt would not go up as fast as it is doing. As we would not be paying out billions to house Illegal Migrants or pay for all the court cases for them to appeal asylum claims that they should not have been allowed to apply for, as they didn't come across legally to the UK, so there would be no backlog of asylum claims and subsequently our Court Cases wouldn't be taking so long to put through the courts due to the migrants using our legal system for free.
By coming to the UK illegally, Migrants have already started the deportation process by coming here illegally, so their return has already begun, so the Government should stop dragging their feet - No More Excuses. We don't want our Countryside, Villages, our towns or our Cities to be ruined forever.
All migrants who didn't come here the legal way, and who didn't pay all the fees themselves for applying to enter the UK legally or find their own accommodation at their own expense and who didn't have the written proof they had been offered a job ( the UK needs and those applying have the qualifications for), should not have been allowed to enter the UK.
Those who have applied legally to come here and work in the UK, and British Citizens here legally, who have links to their ancestors for centuries.
The British people here legally want our Country back!
